Lessons & Programs

One-on-one lessons with an MMM teacher is such a special and personal experience. For so many of our students it is just their musical jumping off point. Being involved in one of our many performance & artist programs can take a student's playing and musicality to the next level! Whether you want to be in a band, learn more about being a singer-songwriter, record & mix in our studio, play a jazz standard, or sing a Broadway tune we have got you covered. The creative possibilities are endless!

Private Music Lessons

Private lessons are the heart of MMM. Our teaching methodology focuses on developing the individual building blocks of music in every student through: Note Reading, Theory, Ear Training, Technique, Repertoire & Creativity. This creative and flexible approach developed over almost 20 years works for beginner to advanced students.

Our approach instills and develops strong technical skills and a connection to the music that each individual student loves. We are always working on the balance between technique & creativity. We feel the best musician’s have ample supply of both. For a free consultation please fill out our information request form below.

Our Band Program

If you love watching a band play...imagine the feeling of playing in one! The MMM Band Program takes the experience and knowledge of the one-on-one lesson, and makes it real on stage. MMM faculty work with student bands as they choose and rehearse songs from a wide range of styles and genres for many diverse performance/gig opportunities.

MMM student musicians work with bandmates in a group setting that supports collaboration--an essential aspect of musicianship, that students may not cultivate through private lessons alone. Within our lesson & band framework, we consistently see students progress musically at a dramatically faster rate than if they were just in one-on-one lessons. For many MMM students, the band program becomes an essential part of who they are as musicians! Click here to read the basic requirements for our band program.

The Solo Artist Program

The Solo Artist Program is unique to MMM and is designed for students who have a deep interest in Singer/Songwriters. The SA program offers students who take both voice and instrumental lessons the opportunity and tools to combine both disciplines. This is one of the most valuable skills a musician can possess, and we believe that no student is too young to begin mastering this ability. While we put a lot of emphasis on the importance of playing music in a group environment, the ability to perform independently as a “Solo Artist" is a very special gift that our students will carry with them throughout their lives.

The annual Solo Artist Program performance is typically held at the acclaimed Rockwood Music Hall in NYC--one of the City's most well-known venues for acoustic music. Leading up to each show, students work directly with our experienced faculty members to choose and arrange songs from the catalog of an iconic artist. Past artists have included: Sting, Stevie Wonder, Norah Jones, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, and Lennon & McCartney.

Audio Engineering

The fundamental art and skill of recording and mixing music was never more essential than during the 2020-21 pandemic. During lockdown, remote recording became the primary means for musicians to collaborate--experiences only possible through advancements and trends towards accessibility in audio engineering. At MMM, our Recording Studio & Audio Engineering program embraces all the newest technology of the modern studio, while also keeping touch with our past: MMM has made a significant investment in vintage outboard gear and microphones, available for use by both our students and faculty. Classic and vintage studio equipment from the 1950's-1980's, were not only essential for musicians of the past, but the bedrock of the music that most of us have grown up with.

For those interested in learning the skills of studio recording, music mixing & production, students will have at their fingertips, tools typically found in only the world's most established recording studios.

Our lessons are one-on-one, designed for Apple's Logic Pro X, our studio's DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) of choice. All students will need to be able to have Logic Pro X at home to start in our program.

The Songwriting Program

Songwriting is the ultimate creative skill. Students will analyze and discover the lyrical, melodic, harmonic and rhythmic tools used in classic "pop" songwriting. Then they will work to develop the tools to craft their own songs using these same timeless devices. If you have ever wanted to seriously write your own songs this program is not to be missed.

Our Little M’s™ Program

Little M’s™ (for Little MMM Musicians!) was developed specifically for students between the ages of four and a half and six. Little M lessons are offered on piano and Loog guitar. Little M’s effectively bridges the gap between early childhood music classes and private lessons, especially when it comes to learning the guitar. Because of technical challenges for little hands, we had traditionally recommended waiting to begin guitar lessons until age six or seven, to make sure a student’s first experience in lessons was a resoundingly positive one. That is...until now!

In response to the “guitar gap” dilemma, we are happy to present an answer: The Loog! The Loog is a huge step forward, helping children to start learning the guitar as young as four and half years old! - Click to find out more about The Loog.

Parents are welcome to sit-in on Little M's private lessons--a great way to have a blast with your child!

The Session Musician Program

The MMM Session Musician Program was created as a response to remote learning. This program was originally designed in mid-2020 to provide students with "real-life" performance goals in a remote environment, but we learned quickly it could be so much more.

Working with a professionally recorded backing track MMM students work on their individual parts and eventually record both audio and video with the band on the backing track. This replicates the feeling of having to "lay-down" a part in the recording studio as a "side-man" or a "Session Musician" who is called in at the last minute to complete a recording. It is designed for all instruments and voice and can also be done in a collaborative fashion as seen here by MMM students Sarah and Chase.
